Existence of limit:Limit exist when left hand side and right hand side are equal and if f(X) is also equal then its continues limit.

Examples:

1.      f(X) =   {20X, X < 5}, {50 + 10X³, X > 5}

Limit (X à 5) 20 X = Limit (X à 5) 50 + 10 X è 20(5) = 50 + 10 (5) è100 = 100 so left hand side = right hand side and F(X) = 100 so it continues limit.

2.      f(X) =   {X², X < 5}, {1 – X, X > 5}

Limit (X à5) X² = Limit (X à5) 1 – X è (5) ² = 1 – (5)³ è 25 = 1 – 125 è 25 = 124 both sides are not equal so no limit exist.

3.      f(x) =    {ax² + b}, {bx³ + a} limit exist so find out values of a, b. limit (x à 3)

limit(x à 3) ax² + b = limit (x à 3) bx³ + a è a(3)² + b = b(3)³+ a è 9a + b = 27b + a è 9a – a = 27b – b è

 8a = 26b, if a = 1 then 8(1) = 26b è 8/26 = b è b = 4/13

a = 1 and b = 4/13
